Cape Sounion, Temple of Apollo
Acrylic and embroidery thread on cotton.
I visited the Temple of Apollo at Cape Sounion in Greece last April. It is a little sacred spot with a temple high above a hill that is covered in patches of green and pink & yellow flowers with winding paths in between. At the bottom of the hill is a cliff that overlooks the sea. I loved being at the edge of the cliff looking out to the sea and then turning towards the top of the hill to see the temple watching over me, lots of paths stomped out by hundreds of years of visitors. I painted it on a little handkerchief that belonged to my grandmother - a pretty little decorated piece of cotton that my goddess of a grandmother used to carry in her purse and blow her nose on.
